Microsoft drops Office Anti-Piracy Check, Reason Unknown

Microsoft has dropped the MS Office Genuine Advantage (OGA) program. This anti-piracy feature helped to detect pirated versions of Microsoft Office and when detected, reduced functionality and introduced nag screens to get people to upgrade to a licensed version.

But for some unknown reason, Microsoft has decided to drop support for OGA, removing all traces of the program from their website, with only a document on the Microsoft website that stated OGA was being "retired" as the only clue to what has happened.

The program for checking pirated versions of Windows, WGA, is still up and running.
