New Sony DVD DRM Causes Players To Lock Up, Disc Stuck Inside

A new DVD DRM used by Sony for the movie Salt appears to lock up certain DVD players, forcing a hard reboot and an expertly timed press of the eject button, to extract the otherwise stuck discs.

For some reason, whether intentional or unintentional, the new DRM measures may cause the Kiss DP-600 DVD player and other DVD players to crash just after the disc spins up, and the only remedy is to turn off the player and on again. But because the sequence simply repeats itself, many may find that the disc is stuck in the player for good unless you time the press of the eject button before the disc spins up in the drive (some players are more stubborn than others at this, since some will spin up immediately after loading, and so there may only be a second or two between pressing the power up button and the eject button to trigger the eject sequence).
