Just Cause Creator: DRM Is Completely Useless

The boss of Avalanche studios, Christofer Sundberg, and creator of the Just Cause franchise, has attacked DRM for being "completely useless" and for not respecting legitimate customers.

Speaking to CVG, Sundberg also suggests that hackers have a key role in helping the gaming industry.

"The DRM does not stop piracy," Sundberg told CVG, "it just punishes the people who have actually paid for the game. It's completely useless. Forcing people to be online all the time and so on doesn't show respect to the people who actually buy PC games."

But more importantly, Sundberg says that better PC games is the key to fighting piracy. Attacking companies that simply port over console games to PC, often in a very crude fashion, Sundberg calls for more PC based development.

"I think piracy wouldn't be as much of an issue if there were better PC games out there. We could just scrap the whole concept of stupid DRM," added Sundberg.
