    Newbie with Some Questions

Hi everybody, I have just joined and did not know where to post this question so forgive me if I have chosen the wrong forum.

If I explain from the beginning then you will understand what I am trying to achieve.

I recently had some VHS tapes converted on to DVDs. Now that they are on discs, when I put one of them in my DVD drive, they show up as chapters in Windows Media Player. I thought I could simply choose any of the chapters within Windows Media Player to burn to another disc but it will not let me do that for some reason.

I have recently put the DVD through DVD Shrink. DVD Shrink put it into a folder where there are different files such as "VIDEO_TS.BUP, VIDEO_TS.IFO, VIDEO_TS.VOB, etc.etc. If I want to simply make a copy of the original DVD, do I just select all the files from this folder and then burn them to a blank DVD?

The other question is, can I break the DVD down and choose only the segments I want to put on a blank DVD? And if so, how would I achieve this?

    Thank you

    HB

Best way I would do it is to use Imgburn to make an image of your disk and then burn with Imgburn as well. You can download it HERE and Guides Are HERE.

Good Luck and Welcome to the forum.

Just FYI we don't talk about shrink because of some of it's ripping abilities and it violates Rule 19

If you need to make a copy of your DVD (assuming the VHS conversion created a non copyright protected disc), you can simply use ImgBurn to make copies:

For re-authoring, there are lots of different tools for doing it, but since you're using DVD Shrink, there's a re-authoring mode in there where you can do it. Click on the "Re-author" button at the top, select the title (there probably should only be one, but you can tell which is your "main movie" by the length/size of the title), and you can even right click on the title to set a start/end frame (so you'll have to find the times of the chapters and enter it here to extract only a chapter).
