    Plextor & PlexTools?

I have just started using a Plextor PX-716A hooked up externally through USB to my PC. I decided to start this thread to tap in to the knowledge of any Plextor & PlexTools users out there & plus the fact I thought that putting PlexTools tests in the Nero CDDVD thread was kind of hijacking it. My ? is that there are a range of tests to run with PlexTools, which ones should I run or is there one overall test that is not shown in the attachments that I am missing? BTW this thread can be along the same lines as the Nero CDDVD thread if people are looking for assistance on testing their Plextor burns with PlexTools, it is open.

I'm not an expert of plextools, but there are at least three tests that should be done:

    1) PI/PO test
    2) Jitter
    3) transfer rate

I suggest also to check in options and change scale limits; setting it to 30 is a good choice in my opinion; in this way the graph is more easily readable. If you see that there are too much errors above 30, you can change scale to a higher value.

        You're welcome

Too bad plextor drives have a big "defect": they can do each test only one at time; benq drives are able to read jitter and PIE/PIF in the same scan, but with plextor drives you must do a scan for each test.

And each test require about 30 min to be complete

Grab with you a bucket of coffee

              I agree.

I know but right now they turn out okay & play just fine. We will see how the budget goes down the road.

can you show some scans to prove that?

                            I just had to.

This is just a test because I know I shouldn't burn @ max but (wait for it) it plays fine & it actually turned out better than I thought, Plextor 716A hooked up externally through USB using ImgBurn.
