Compressing AVI Files

Does anyone know the titles of any software that can compress AVI files? I'm still having them coming out too large. I just edited together some footage at seven and-a-half minutes and the size is 1.48GB. That is way too big.

divx / xvid use tmpgenc to make divx file of ur desired size.. post back if u need any more help

MAny thanks for the help. I did try the trial called AVI To MPEG Convertor even though their site says it can compress AVI files but the software was useless, there's nothing to run the files through. I'll try the ones you mentioned.

Many thanks for the help, too. Even though Atifsh kindly mentioned some title as you kindly did, the more titles of software the better encase I find any awkward to use even though they work. Then I can choose what one to buy the registration key for that I'm happy with.

I second paglamon that AviDemux is very easy to use. Depending how much quality you need, if you like speed, often you can set xvid for single pass bitrate. When processing Avi for play on my standalones I usually set it to single pass bitrate 2400 kbps with no bvops and trellis quantizer. One pass comes out lookin' pretty good.
