How do I join 2 AVI files with different sampling rates?

I tried joining 2 AVI files with VirtualDub, and got this error:
"The audio steams do not share a common sampling rate.

    First stream: 00005535 / 00000001 = 21813.0 samples/sec
    Second stream: 00005535a / 00000001 = 213383.0 samples/sec "
    1st AVI is 716,170 KB
    2nd AVI is 717,674 KB

I just want to join them for backup to a DVD with no further authoring.

    Thanks!

open the first avi file, set video to direct stream copy, set audio to full processing mode, set compression to mp3, pick your bitrate. save the file. do the same with the second avi file.

you should now be able to append them

        Hello,

I followed the procedure given by Anonymez, however I am unable to set the bitrate over 56k on Vdub, My original file is 128k, is there any way to keep the audio quality at a good level?

        Thanks ,
        kidcash.

Install Lame ACM MP3 codec and you will get higher bitrates available in VD.

I have installed the Lame ACM MP3 Codec, however the highest bitrate avaliable is still 56k in virtualdub.

Is there anything else that i should do? maybe something i have forgotten or missed out?

Thanks for your help and thanks for the screenshot, It helped me fix the problem.

I was looking under "MPEG Layer 3" however I took a look under "Lame MP3" and I see bitrates upto 320k, thanks.
