@atfish,

Statistics show that when India have chased down big totals successfully Tendulkar has seldom been the hero.Quite a while back in Sharjah he did make a century in the final against Australia to win it for India while chasing. Yes,in quite a few occasions he scored heavily when India batted first and subsequently India won;but seldom while chasing.
He did play magnificently yesterday(on a very batting-friendly pitch against a third-rate bowling attack).But he also played a very silly shot to get out when 23 were needed in 22 balls.Here,in my country,he is a holy cow........no one will dare to utter these words openly. Unfortunately, a certain Sourav Ganguly was not so lucky in his days.Had Sourav played a similar innings and got out in a similar fashion and India lost.......things would have been very different for him.
With 7 players of the first team missing,the Aussies are doing brilliantly well. They may still lose the series;expecting a Sehwag to fire sometime.And when Sehwag fires,it's really the end of the opponents.

Tendulkar's innings was great - possibly his best 1-day ever. However, you can't say India were "unlucky" - first, as per usual in Hyderabad, a "road" was served up, so given both teams' powerful batting lineups, there was going to be a big score to chase and a big score got (even given what pagla says about our attack). IIRC, some Aussies scored heavily, too (Marsh, Watson, Ponting etc) - that is why we got to 350.

Yes, India had the chase within reach, but that's cricket. You lose a couple of wickets and the game turns around. That's what's so fascinating about the game!!! Let's love the game because of it, and not say "so and so should have won, if only we had not gotten out" (which is tautologous!!!).

There have been worse losses than this meaningless game. Imagine how Lance Klusener and Alan Donald feel today - run out trying for the winning run in the word cup semi - and they had 3 balls to go (IIRC)! Imagine Hershelle Gibbs who (almost literally) "dropped the world cup" when he put down a sitter off Steve Waugh, who went on to get a ton.

Imagine how Mike Kasprowicz feels, knowing now that the ball that got him out in Edgbaston, when Australia has 3 runs to go in the second test of the 2005 Ashes series (never mind this one day crap) came off his helmet! (this would have put Australia 2-0 up - an unassailable lead in a series we ultimately lost).

And many many more.

ati - that's cricket! Live with it.

Regards
