    Help With Encoding Andromeda DVD

First, I ripped the VOB file from the DVD with SmartRipper. Then...

I run the ripped VOBs inside DVD2AVI. The first 10 seconds is Interlaced NTSC (Frame Type and Video Type). Then it bounces (as in changes during the movie) back and forth between Interlaced and Progressive and NTSC and FILM the rest of the time. After playing for a while, FILM has a higher percentage than NTSC (I think). Aig, what do I do here? What configurations should I choose? The previewing, by the way, looks like it has a bunch of horizontal lines when there is movement.

There were some 30 sec clips on the DVD; I ripped those and encoded those and I get this little error:
BSPlayer v0.85.492, Unhandled exception at EIP: 77F5215C
If you click 'Close' application will be terminated.
Please report this info to the author with description what were you doing.
Access violation at address 77F5215C in module 'ntdll.dll'. Write of address 112FED8B

The error occurs in the 30 sec encoded clip; it will play normally for about 20 seconds, and then all of a sudden it will be stuck in a playback loop of about 1/4 sec. So it's like what happens with your music sometimes; sometimes it'll play back the same note over and over, a very short clip, and that's when the program freezes or something happens.
