Titlewriter
Titlewriter is a utility designed to add DvdText, Menus Original/Generic to compliant dvd files. ------------------------ DvdText ------------------------------------------ In your computer you can "name" the dvd (Volume). Dvd players can't read this info. Titlewriter adds the naming ability to your dvd so that standalone dvd players (That support dvd text) can read and display "name" information. Dvd jukeboxes (Sony, Pioneer) use this "name" information in their menu systems for on screen navigation between dvd's. Very few commercial dvd's contain this info. Titlewriter supports "naming" Dvd Volumes, Titlesets, Chapters, Cells with "names". Actress/Actor, Director, Comments "names" can also be added. ------------------------ Menus --------------------------------------------- Titlewriter contains an option to add a precreated menu to a dvd (without reauthoring) allowing on screen navigation between Titlesets, chapters, audio, subtitles. Simple Menus for various "types" of dvd's are provided in MenuTemplates folder. Support is also included for creating/adding your own custom menus. Provided Menu templates use less then 1 Meg of dvd space. Titlewriter now contains option (Ver 1.71) to readd Original menus to Movie only compiliations. ------------------------ Automation --------------------------------------- Automation of Steps/multiple compiliations -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Help files for various steps/options are provided Titlewriter Files are Located At: http://www.dvdshrink.info/titlewriter/ FAllenAngel

Feb 20 2005 Rev. 2.001
Fixed a nasty bug on SHOWWINDOW ext command -- wasn't always displaying window on top with mouse focus Reduced default steptime to 100 ms (makes faster if to fast just use SETSTEPTIME command Added @DVDTITLENAME@ to Macros Will be replaced with content of the first entry following First TITLE: entry from titlewriters DVD_TEXT area (I used this to create a 1 Clicker in my program list to add the Movie Name into an MsWorks database containing all the Movies I have then sort it I left the programline in programlist on provided startup as an FYI example Since you won't have the database don't run - just delete it or use it to make your own. ) Added DOESMACROEXIST,@MACRO@,label; command to extended command line parser checks if macro has content if yes goto label Same link as above Last edited by FallenAngel; 21 Feb 2005 at 02:31 AM |

Hi, Ive got the Sony cx985v player and I'd like to know if I can add the "genre" title somewhere so it will show up in the folder menu.I've got the title added and also a 2nd line of text but didn't know where to put the "genre "info.
Also what other info is this player capable of reading/displaying that I can add? |

I have the pioneer jukeboxes - not sony. I designed this for the Sony capabilities blind (I don't actually know just what the sony DvdText will support).
Pioneer's DVDText seem to only support volume, title, chapter naming I would suggest just taking a rw, add a movie, and titlewrite different things/play with the various options. then see what (if anything) shows up on the player. Or just use the second line for Genre (I believe this will give you option to sort Dvd's by genre in sonys dvd select menu) FAllenAngel![]() Others might be interested in your results Last edited by FallenAngel; 4 Apr 2005 at 05:48 PM |

Yes you probably should upgrade - A couple of nasty bugs were fixed Re 2.0?
And I simplified the whole DVDShrink-Titlewrite-Add Menu-Burn? cycle into Titlewriter's GUI with (multiple target/batch) automation. In other words my setup time per Dvd - for movie only (Knock off end creds and initial studio crap) +orig/generic menu is less then 1 min/Per Dvd + DvdShrink initial analysis. I usually stack up 3 or 4 on my harddrive and crunch them all at once. Then walk away and have a cold one FAllenAngel

@FallenAngel - Would TitleWriter work on 4 small 1/2 hour shows on 1 dvd? My grandson is driving me nuts switching dvd's.

I've been playing with TitleWriter after asking the noob question above. I shrank 2 of the movies with shrink and then ran TW. I changed the tilte names in the left panel and also clicked add all chapters which I did not rename. I used the provided Menu2Movies template. I then saved all changes and opened it up in PowerDVD 5.0. When it opened up the menu showed movie selection menu, first movie, second movie, main menu. Are the names of the titles as I changed them (like from Title1 to Nursery Rhymes) supposed to show up in single DVD players such as PC based and standalone or is this just for multi DVD standalones?
I was able to manuever between movies and their chapters. I used the v2.001 beta. |

What you saw on the Menu is what you will see on any player computer or standalone.
Titlewriter's Dvd-Text is not migrated to the menu button labels (This is not possible without complete menu authoring. ) Titlewriter will insert any menu "As is". and attempt to make it work without user decisions/jump editing. The Provided templates are Generics and just allow basic navigation between chapters, titlesets. and audio/subtitle selections. I provided a Generic for 4 titlesets in menutemplates folder Dvd Text may show up on The LED of your standalone player (If it supports Dvd_text). The only computer software I've ever seen that shows Dvd-Text is in IfoEdit |

@Fallen Angel -THANKS for the reply and the info! - TW is still an easy way to jump from movie to movie on a DVD with multiple titles. I had seen the 4menu template also but just tried it with 2 to give it a shot.
I'll burn it to a dvd +rw and see what it does in my standalone. So many programs to learn how to use...I dunno know how you guys do it....now I'm off to try IfoEdit |

Ifoedit/PgcEdit is mainly for tinkering/fixing dvd's when it hits the fan. You really only need to learn DvdDecrypter,DvdShrink,TW for Get It Done backing up.
MenuShrink, VobEdit can also be useful without an extensive learning curve. FAllenAngel

I used decrypter to rip, and shrink to reauthor the 2 movies to 1 folder, then TitleWriter to add the menu.
I've used MenuShrink (Nice!!) but not Vob Edit yet. I just looked at IfoEdit and it looks way over my head for now. TitleWriter did what I wanted to do but the names of the movies did not show . Would using IfoEdit and/or Vob edit on TitleWriter sample menus do it? What would be the way to add a menu that shows the titles of multiple movies on 1 dvd and maybe the titles of the chapters for each, if there is a way? Anything would be better than fast forwarding or hitting the next chapter button 12 times to get to the next movie. |

I used Dvd_Lab to create the menu templates. (not freeware)
And No there is no way or quick software trick to reauthor the text on the buttons. You need to understand that what you see on the menu is actually still frames converted to m_peg2. Or in other words a movie. Reediting the frame would be a serious pain. -- Think about editing a photograph that contains text. If you want to get fancy you might try TMPGEnc DVD Author. It will create a basic menu with custom text on the buttons. I seem to remember something about limits on titlesets though. FAllenAngel

@FallenAngel - Still frames to mpeg2, got it. What TW did for the menu will work for me, it beats the next chapter button thing to the next movie and of course spending $$$$$
Thanks for the schoolin' ! |
