Help!

Hey, all you expert can you please help me out

I just bought a DVD rom this week. Out of Ignorance I thought the DVD rom is Region free. After trying 5 times the DVD rom, which is a Toshiba SDM 1502, the DVD end up locking on Region 2 (the one and only Region 2 film which i have.) I am usually using Region 1 or Region 3 film. I tried downloading utilities from this website & firmware but to avail in unlocking it. or should i bring the DVD rom to the supplier and change for a new one?
