I've the same problem, the 4120b is the first DVD/CDRW combo from LG and it was released in oct 01, so I think we must wait a little more for the regionless firmware (a few monts I hope).
Meanwhile you can set the region to match your favorite DVD, or the ones that you use the most and [rip-to-hd, view, erase] for the rest, that's what I'm doing for the moment. best regards, LimonDude |

Thanks for the info, didn't realise it was LG's first combo. I'll keep my eyes peeled and let you know as soon as I find anything.

You can get the region/counter setter made by LG here:

I've got the same 4120b and rpcman103 doesn't want to show it. It comes up blank and there is nothing to pull down. Its a slave on a secondary ide port. The download file comes with wnaspo32.dll and I've tried replacing the win2k one with it an still nothing.
Anyone have any suggestions! Thanks Scott |

You've got to have the 4201b as a master on the second IDE port. That's an absolute requirement. It should work after that.
Also, you don't want to replace Windows' aspi with the one that comes with the SW, just keep it in the same directory as the SW. You should restore your original Windows aspi driver. Last edited by abekl; 7 Mar 2002 at 11:33 AM |

And it does indeed! You are the man (or woman) I successfully reset my count to 5 and decremented the vendor from 4 to 3. The only other question I'd have is what the initialize function does. (I've got the R2D2 password) Thanks again, you are an :

Glad it's working for you.
The intialize function sets the drive back to no region and the Vendor count back to 4. Don't confuse no region with region free. No region is just that. As soon as you play a dvd, the drive will go to the disc's region. As for the vendor count, I'm not sure what that means. You might hunt around The Firmware Page http://perso.club-internet.fr/farzeno/firmware/ and the discussion groups there to see if you can get an explanation. I'd like to know also. Happy regioning! |
