Anybody knows any way to replace (the default shipping) Media Player 8 with 6.4 version in WindowsXP Pro?
Media Player 7+ sucks....huge memory hog, CPU hog, bad interface, bad video playback, problems with divx playback in winxp etc, etc, etc |

just create a shortcut to program files\windows media player\mplayer2.exe or wherever mplayer2.exe is on your system ... that's WMP 6.4 ...

Right-click on an AVI file (or any other video format that you wish WMP6.4 to handle), Open With and Choose WMP 6.4 (Find it in x:\program files\windows media player\mplayer2.exe, where x is your windows installation location). Tick 'Always Use This Program To Open These Files' and you're set.
