Region 2 problems...please help

Hi!

I recently bought a region 2 DVD to enjoy on my laptop. I am aware of region coding and the correct software to bypass this. The problem I am having is when I play the DVD, I get somewhat choppy sound and the only picture I get is the logo from Playback on the screen *Playback is a devision of Universal Studios I believe*. I have never had problems with normal region 1 DVDs on my laptop...so I dont believe it is a performance issue. Is there any thing you guys might recommend to fix my problem? Perhaps different video settings?
