I've had that problem before and I think I fixed it simply by rebooting and redoing the clips...

What if i say i'm still getting the same error? This is the first time i'm cutting a movie and perhaps i'm doing wrong somewhere.

Here's how i cut my movie with VirtaulDub1.4

set audio/video to direct stream copy
open video file
move to the center of the movie with the handler
click move to keyframe button once
click marked end
jump to beginning
click mark start
save avi.

can someone pls review my steps for me

Have you tried using AviChophttp://www.doom9.org
This is what I use and have never had any problems. Plus it is dead quick!
