I was given a totally No-name DVD drive, I think it was N@tcomp. When I installed the drive, I found an ATAPI DVD-STAR 2000 in my BIOS and in Windows. But that's not the problem. The problem is, that I can't find any firmware under both names. You can hardly find anything about this drive in any search engine. The only thing I found was about mounting the drive in Linux, which wasn't very helpfull. Does anyone know, if there's any compatible firmware for my drive, to make it region-free? I'm so upset because I've got two american DVDs and I can't play them because I don't want to make my DVD-drive lock in US-region having 20 european DVDs. Of course I could buy a new drive, but I tend to looking for the cheapest solution. Can anybody help me?
