Jumping straight to a post in a thread

To link to a post, simply move your mouse over the edit button and read the topic id from your webbrowser's status bar. In Firefox do a right-click on it to get a context-sensitive menu which among other options allows you to copy the link target.

Now paste this into your posting a change the syntax like this from

http://forum.digital-digest.com/editpost.php?s=&action=editpost&postid=220437

to

http://forum.digital-digest.com/showthread.php?s=&postid=220437#post220437

An easier way courtesy of kedirekin

"To link to a post, do a search (by author for example) and click the 'Show results as posts' radio button. When you click the desired post, the URL with the post ID will appear in the address bar. Then it's a simple copy and paste, though you may want to remove the &highlight parts."

Had that in mind too but didn't remember who to credit. Actually I wouldn't call it easier, it involves too much steps and takes more time once you memorized the link syntax. Just do as you prefer...

Easiest method thanks to latest forum software:

Click on "Link" and copy and paste the link into your post.
