Hi,
I use flaskmpeg to change vobs to avi's and during 1 or 2 scences in films, there is some pixelation for a few seconds. I believe it not my computer but my compression to avi as when i rewind over the same pixelated part, it remains pixelated. This has occured on my Cast Away, Final Destination and Final Fantasy DVDs. Is this some sort of copyright protection or is it flaskmpeg? Thanks in Advance Divxgoon |

Are you doing NTSC or PAL?
I ripped Tomb Raider (PAL) and noticed some pixelation on 2 pass. I then did it again on 1 pass-quality based and de-interlaced it (although you shouldn't need to de-interlace PAL) and the pixelatation disappeared. This may or not be any help, but it's the best I can suggest.

Thanks for the replies.
I am using DVD decrypter 3008. I'm pretty much a newbie to this. How do i select what pass to use? I rip all Pal dvds. Anything else that could cause this? Thanks in advance Divxgoon |

Get FlaskMPEG, it is much simpler, then got to output, select AVI Output. Then go into the menu again and choose the last option. Then go to Video Codec (you'll need DivX 4.11) and choose 1 pass-quality based. This way you won't have to set the bitrate. Next choose de-interlace.
Then select your audio codec as normal, crop the size if you have to and off you go! |

Sorry divxgoon, ignore the first part of my post, I got carried away. If your already using Flask then just choose 1 pass-quality and go as normal.

i'm not that sure about the DE-INTERLACING part!!
i havent touched flask for quite some time, as i consider it ..... but de-interlacing should only be done, when your source material is interlaced! pal seldom is! since it will reduce speed significantly i would not suggest to use it until necessary. and whenever your source will be interlaced, flasks internal de-interlacer will be the worst choice, but thats a different story have a go without de-interlacing is what i was gonna say
