ok, it was a long way to the bottom

for reading ^_~

i have to admit, that this conversion had low bitrates but on the other hand comparing high bitrate conversions doesnt make much sense as all results will look very good

you might say that the depicted blockiness or bluriness will not be visible on a tv that much because i picked one single frame which will almost vanish on tv, but i do see a difference on the telly because the less than perfect scenes/frames repeat themselves and i do see noise or a macroblock every now and then in my conversions

so for me, an ENcoder is second to none - only question is which one to take?

i see most blockiness/too smoothed areas in the SHRINK pictures and my number one is PROCODER2 by far

but one should also be able to see that HC is not inferior to cce
i think it can compete and it may even look slightly better sometimes

taking into account that HC is total freeware, this is an amazing result imho!

i, too, see a slight difference between hc BEST and hc BEST + MATRIX

the pictures with matrix enabled (which only the PRO version of rebuilder allows) do look a little less noisy to me

so all in all i must say i that dvd rebuilder PRO is worth the $10 or more, because of an enormous amount of additonal settings/options and in combination with a freeware encoder like HC Enc is a very good choice

do hurry up though to donate, as the current PRO version 1.0 rc 5.1 is said to be the LAST rc version and when the FINAL will hit the market it'll be ~$30

Poor DVD Shrink is all I can say Very blocky. Wonder what it would look like on "max smooth" - this low bitrate stuff needs that IMHO.

Would have been nice to also see the original frame.

HC16 is due out in a week or so. It is rapidly overtaking CCE.

And folks shouold not forget the free RBOpt addin to DVDRB, which enables you to set bitrates on a cell basis. So lower it for credits and raise it for low bitrate scenes.

Regards
