Creative 1242E/Samsung SD-612

Have been running my Creative 1242E region free as a Samsung SD-612 with firmware 0.6patched OK under WinXP Home edition.

I tried to upgrade to firmware 1.01patched but the DVD-ROM is now shown as a SAMSUNG SD-612 BOOT and is no longer accessable.

It will not now accept firmware of any version. How do I get it working again ? Any help much appreciated.

I think the only way to make it work is to buy a new DVD player.
