Nero buffer level stays at 0% when burning DVD

I am a rookie so please hang in here with me. I have read numerous forums and tried to resolve this issue but now I have no choice but to post my problem. I have burned about 3 DVD's with DVD SHRINK and NERO (version 6) and did not have any problem. Now, all of a sudden I go through the process with SHRINK then to NERO and everything seems fine until I put the blank DVD in. Everythign fires up like normal and the DVD spins fast but the buffer level never picks up and the DVD will spin very fast then slow down over and over unless you abort it. I have read that it could be from using cheap DVD's but I bought verbatim's last night that still would not work. If anyone can help I would greatly appreciate it!!!!!!! THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!

tons of problems in that log. In my opinion the burn speed and DMA issue alone are the problem, but you should correct everything you can.
        CdRomPeripheral : LITE-ON DVDRW SOHW-1693S nvatabus Port 0 ID 0 DMA: Off

Looks like the worst case of NForce drivers hosing a bus I have seen yet!

But I wish I had bought one of those dvd burners before they sold out.

I would like to see the log at the bottom with a verbatim not working with a slower burn speed

Wow I have plenty of work to do. Thanks for the help. I will continue to do what you said and let you know.

So Chewy, what exactly does "Looks like the worst case of NForce drivers hosing a bus I have seen yet!" mean. Actually I built this PC with a buddy but do not know too much about them. Thanks again for all of your help!

                Been there done that!

If you flash that burner and still have those buggy nvidia ide drivers loaded,
be sure and do it in safe mode(PIO) mode.

In a nutshell you loaded drivers meant for XP/W2K not XPSP2.

This is what a good log has:
Bus Type : default (0) -> ATAPI, detected: ATAPI
                === Scsi-Device-Map ===
                CdRomPeripheral : _NEC DVD_RW ND-3520AW atapi Port 0 ID 0 DMA: On
                CdRomPeripheral : HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-4163B atapi Port 1 ID 0 DMA: On
CdRomPeripheral : BENQ DVD DD DW1620 atapi Port 1 ID 1 DMA: On
                DiskPeripheral : ST3120827AS 3.42 viasraid Port 2 ID 0 DMA: Off
compare to yours, I try hard to make coasters(in the interest of science),
                never works.

for example! this burn was 4 gigs in 5min 15 seconds
a similar burn on my nforce system with nvidia ide drivers loaded might take 15-20 minutes

OK now that I have time I have set my mind to fix this. How could it just go from working to not working. I have had this PC for about 8 months and never had a problem with burning DVD's. CD's work fine still bit the DVD's do not work. I am going down the list of things that were recommended.

OK when I try to turn the DMA on I am following the directions on the link. I click on IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers: I have 3 things there which are: (2) nvidia CK804 ADMA Controller (v2.7) and (1) NVIDIA CK804 Parallell ATA Controller (v2.7). I do not have the advanced option to turn this DMA to the correct one. Any ideas???
