seems like the file you want to play (are you actually trying to play a file??? i mean you better give some more details) is not a divx but maybe ms v1, 2 or 3? or angelpotion or krystal.

there are more codecs than just divx 3 and 4!

try TSUNAMIS filterpack, which can be found in my guide

if you need a nanny for even downloading, you better quit transcoding

My friend has had a similar problem to playing divx avi files as well. I used to rip all my movies using divx 3.11 but when I upgraded to XP, the installer file for 3.11 wasn't suported with XP so I had to download the newer divx - 4.02. Once I did that, I started ripping movies again and the first time my friend tried playing one of my newer movies, it wouldn't play - in fact it came up with the same error - decompressor error. That means that he was trying to read a 4.02 encoded file with a 3.11 version and the two weren't supported. Once he installed 4.02 thought, everything worked meaning he could play 3.11 files and 4.02 files. Which means that you should dled the up to date divx and see if that works. Otherwise, like the moderator was saying, you might have to try dling another decompressor such as sngel potion. It could be that the file wasn't encoded with divx.
