OK I understand that the test burn takes about the same time as a real burn just without the laser. Is the amount of time taken to to do these processes determined by the hardware or software??
UPDATE......... this test burn was 2hrs 10mins is this normal? Last edited by Jensen; 10 Aug 2007 at 12:13 PM Reason: addition |

nope I afraid not, you use Media Type: DVD-R (Disc ID: RITEKF1), and Write Speed: MAX, Chewy can tell you more about your burner

I need a education on dvd-r +r dl
I looked at the "FAQ: The Golden Rules of Burning" authored by Blutach and learned quite a bit. But when is a good time to use these discs, I already made a mistake and listened to the radioshack guys and bought 50 of these (go ahead laugh lol) So what I would like to know, whats best for what?? |

If I might add to what night and blu have already, I suspect your firmware is part of the problem,
Quote:

So I have come to the conclusion that imgburn works best for dvd+r.... and that all dvd-r will be written as dao.
I got my hands on a maxell dvd+rw disc to try and get this done. heres a partial log. I 23:05:41 Source File Implementation Identifier: ImgBurn I 23:05:41 Source File File System(s): ISO9660, UDF (1.02) I 23:05:41 Destination Device: [0:0:0] MAD DOG TF-DVDRW TSH652D MD01 (F (USB)I 23:05:41 Destination Media Type: DVD+RW (Disc ID: RICOHJPN-W11-01) (Speeds: 2.4x, 4x) I 23:05:41 Destination Media Sectors: 2,295,104 I 23:05:41 Write Mode: DVD I 23:05:41 Write Type: DAO I 23:05:41 Write Speed: 8x I 23:05:41 Link Size: Auto I 23:05:41 Test Mode: No I 23:05:41 BURN-Proof: Enabled what should I be doing differently with this disc??? Blutach- you mentioned Verbatim or the Taiyo Yuden media dvd+r for burning right? What characteristics of these discs do you recommend? +RW or just +R? 8x or lower? edit- new log error I 23:37:09 Average Write Rate: 5,413 KB/s (3.9x) - Maximum Write Rate: 5,734 KB/s (4.1x) I 23:37:09 Cycling Tray before Verify... Nothing to do with the source. It's not reading the disk back on verify. I used to use those RICOHJPN W011 RWs - they were pretty good but had a poor life.
I also wonder why you are burning (or trying to burn) a disk rated at 4x at 8x? Especially over USB, which is iffy at best. Slow down over USB! Or as said in other threads you have started, move the drive to an IDE channel. As well, the drive is not the bgreatest in the world either. For media, I'd buy some Verbatim MCC003/004 or Taiyo Yuden TYG02. There's no need for RWs unless you are burning stuff temporarily. Regards

I haven't taken the time to install the drive inside yet, not sure if the connector is right, I did notice the burn speed, after reading the log several times and looking at imgburn stats right side of screen. Thank you for your media suggestion. I have heard of an issue with the PS3 and the ac3 code. Is there another audio code to burn with ?? Or do you stand by media will probably fix this? And if what good are these discs I already have? Data storage?
in imgburn log says I 04:46:49 Write Mode: DVD I 04:46:49 Write Type: DAO is this write for what Im doing Ok I was looking into verbatim and 1st I couldnt find mcc 003/004 listed nexted to any of the disc pakages (online) 2nd I live on an island in Hawaii, shipping for a pack of 50 is $22 . I looked earlier @ circuit city and best buy and they didnt even know what I was talking about. Ofcourse niether did I. I think I kept saying "verbigium" I couldnt remember it lol. Ill have to find a specialty store and pay extra no-doubt. Last edited by Jensen; 13 Aug 2007 at 12:13 AM |

Cool, Ill check them again tomorrow. I was already on that side of the island earlier, I was able to get the dvd-r to work for both players. 1 issue is the ps3 freezes at 10x forward, and wont skip to the next title. However it will play thru to it, and >>@1.5x which is interesting since everything works for the reg. dvd player. any thoughts? Im a thinkin media.
