Default SCEE Boss: PS3 Will 'Probably' Get Extra GTA IV Content

Quote:
SCEE boss David Reeves recently made some fairly cryptic remarks about the probability of downloadable content coming for the PlayStation 3 version of Grand Theft Auto IV.

I believe the PS3 will get DLC, but probably not exclusive content like the 360 is getting.

I'm not so sure. Microsoft paid a lot of money to get exclusives, and I'm sure there's a contract there to ensure that only the 360 gets them. Nobody actually knows what the DLC is going to be anyway, it will most likely disappoint people who are expecting things like brand new cities or total recreation of San Andreas or Vice City.

The exclusives are very likely to be two episodes with additional missions in perhaps a section of a new city (not an entire city). Those two exclusives will be self contained, so future DLC (non exclusive) won't require players to have played those two episodes. If the exclusive DLC sells well, I'm sure there will be more than just two non exclusive DLCs in the future.

The vague statements from Sony is probably just their usual tactic of muddying the waters to confuse people as to the difference between exclusive DLC and just normal DLC (nobody ever said that the PS3 won't be getting non exclusive DLCs, mainly because Rockstar never said that DLCs would be limited to the two exclusive ones paid by MS). I don't think Sony are all that happy at the moment in regards to the GTA IV performance, since their PR department has been very quiet in terms of lauding GTA IV sales and hardware sales (in comparison to Microsoft, which has been screaming on top of every roof about GTA IV sales).

There have been stories out, that after GTA IV the rest of the series will be exclusive to the PS3.That is if EA doesn't get their ugly mits on it, and ruin it like everything else they buy up.I'm not sure if the story from a few months ago has changed or not
