    Missing AC3 filter in Divx

Hi all, first time posting here and having trouble with a couple of conversions. My problem is when I drag a file in to divx converter, it comes up that I don't have an AC3 filter installed. The video won't play with sound using divx player either. If I use Nero, there isn't a problem with playback. Is there a seperate codec for divx that I need to install? if so what one would it be and where can I get it.

try an ac3 filter like this one:

AC3Filter is a high quality free audio decoder and processor filter. It allows media players to playback movies with AC3 and DTS audio tracks. Also it can

thanks for that, I was hoping to get a codec that went directly into divx without having yet another program to run video through. Is this what the one you suggested is? Thanks once again for the help

You are not running another program just providing another "Codec" .. when your Converter calls for it it will see it automatically.

Just out of curiosity ... what version of "DivX Converter" are you running!?!?

Hi again. I've got Divx 7 pro. I also have Nero 7 Premium installed. I have since downloaded AC3 Filter but even when it's installed I have to go through AC3 filter and manually change the settings for each movie to play. It doesn't automatically play them with the right settings. I either get static or a Mickey Mouse speech. So I'm a bit disapointed with that. Unless I'm doing something wrong ... ????

            Hi Timbo,

Sorry man ... but read 4.4 in this Thread and see if that fixes your problem ... download and try DivX Codec v3.11 alpha that they are recommending ... but from my cursory read of 4.4 sounds like DivX is going backward rather than forward.

DivX FAQ. Introduction, Requirements, Installation problems, Playback problems, Common questions, Error messages.

Q1: BTW, if you are trying convert video formats ... tell me what format you are going from what to what ... e.g. VOB to AVI or WMV to AVI or AVI to X ... I DO NOT need to know your FILE NAME or anything else

If above solution fixed your problem post back please!

well the videos are usually just AVI files or XVID files. It's only the ones that have AC3 sound that cause a problem. I would use Nero to just burn a VOB file but for some reason it was easier to convert all my movies to Divx that my dvd player can play. Divx 7 has been good so far and the sound quality on high end hifi systems is quite remarkable all things considered.
All I want is an easy program that will convert anything and not be a hastle. I don't have the time or patience play around with program after program and then still not end up with anything worthwhile. Just give me one program and make it easy
