Samsung's LED based back-lighting gives it the edge against other LCDs, and the lower price and extra features (such as Internet functions) pushes it over the line compared to the Sony Bravia range. LED LCDs will lead the charge for HDTVs until OLED and other technologies mature. Plasmas may still hold the edge in terms of picture quality and pricing for over 50" screens though, but LED LCD should catch up rather quickly especially with Pioneer pulling out of the plasma market.
