Rumor: Xbox 360 Elite $100 Price Drop

In response to the PS3 Slim and the $100 price drop, Microsoft appears to be dropping the Xbox 360 Elite's price tag also by $100, to bring it to the same price point as the PS3 Slim. Both consoles will features a 120 GB HDD.

The Xbox 360 Elite price drop, and the Pro version of the consoles being phased out, has been long in coming actually, the first rumor surfaced in early July.

Still can't help but feel that Microsoft needs it's own "Xbox 360 Slim", or at least Cool and Quiet, because a quiet Xbox 360 is a good match for the PS3 in gaming capabilities (PS3 may have better graphics, the Xbox 360 also has it's own list of advantages).

The rumour is now fact, Microsoft has dropped the Elite by $100 worldwide (new price is $299 in the US), and the Pro will be discounted by $50 and will be phased out when all units are sold.
