New Technology To Fight Cam Recordings In Theaters

Japanese movie theaters are introducing a new way to fight against people recording the movies on camcorders, and then uploading them online. By using infrared lamps situated behind the movie screen that pulse 10 times a second, the recorded image on camcorders will contain artifacts. The pulses are invisible to the human eye, and so moviegoers are not disturbed.

Of course, the problem is that people wiling to download screeners/cam recordings are used to the low quality nature of the movie, often with people's heads in view and certainly below average sound quality. It's unknown whether these artifacts will even deter screender fans at all.
