Fox Studios Wants French-style Three-Strikes System For US

Fox Studios is lobbying the US government to copy the French and introduce a three-strikes anti-piracy system. Fox believes that cutting off the Internet connection of people suspected of pirating films will help the industry battle online piracy.

Under the system, ISPs would effectively become copyright cops and will then pass on the cost of the anti-piracy operation unto the consumer, costing the studios nothing with everything to gain.

This comes after Hollywood reported record profits even during the economic downturn and last year's writers strike.

Fox, the one company left to not ARccOS their DVDs, complaining about piracy?

    Jeez.

Though I actually respect them for that... not turning to the dark side like WB and other studios who are using "false bad sectors" type copy-protections. At least the last FOX movie I checked was plain-old CSS only.
