    Review: Toshiba's First Blu-ray Player

TrustedReviews has reviewed Toshiba's first Blu-ray player, and while pricing is attractive and Blu-ray playback solid, it was found to lack many of the frills that are fast becoming standard on other Blu-ray player offerings from the likes of LG, Samsung and even Oppo.

The Toshiba BDX2000 has all the standard Blu-ray features you would expect, like BD Live, and media based playback from the provided SD slot, formats supported includes MP3, WMA, JPEG and AVCHD. But in terms of features, that was about it. There is not Wi-Fi networking support, no video streaming options (either online or through home LAN networking), and surprisingly, it does not include Toshiba's well respected XDE engine for enhanced upscaling of SD DVDs.

As a first Blu-ray player, the BDX2000 seems adequate enough, but you do have a feeling that Toshiba's first tentative steps into the world of Blu-ray will soon be followed up with some bigger strides, and an XDE equipped Blu-ray player will come eventually.
