YouTube's New Piracy Problem: Software Piracy

YouTube is facing a new kind of piracy problem - and it's not video piracy. Apparently, pirates are using YouTube videos to post information on how to download pirated software, and getting paid through advertising for their troubles.

They're doing this because Google now places YouTube video links high up in their search results, and this free "promotion" is exactly what enterprising pirates need. Google's recent promotion of Twitter links has also made sure spammers took advantage in similar fashion.

While technology exists to scan uploads for pirated videos, it's hard to know if YouTube's technology also scans for pirated software.

Google can do w/e at this stage of the game. If they can keep track of our browsing habits etc... they can scan keep tabs on this. I've seen this for a while now and it's not that new. There are videos on almost anything from tricking the robot in a windows install to Pirated content etc...

They will have to do something sooner or later as they will have a contending power w/$$$ to challenge them. ala MPAA, Viacom, etc... and everyone else hip to their tricky methods. Who knows, maybe their genius will end up being their achilles heel to some extent.

Take the suggestions and follow the directions. The results will speak for themselves.

    Google is definitely our friend.
