The Pirate Bay Asks Users To Fight UK Anti-Piracy Law

The Pirate Bay has issued a call to arms, for UK Internet users to fight the recently passed Digital Economy Bill, which they say threatens human rights and the freedom of expression.

In a post on their website, the BitTorrent linking website detailed instructions on why the bill should be opposed, and what users can do to get the bill revoked.

Critics of the new law say that it was passed in a hurry without room for discussion. While Internet bannings do not occur right away, an impossible target of reducing file sharing by 70% has been set, and if this target is not met, "temporary suspensions" will start to be issued out. Critics also say that due to the need to deal with suspected infringement in a timely manner, the government is assuming any allegation towards an individual automatically means they are guilty, and that everyone in the same household should be punished as a result.
