Peter Jenner, president of the International Music Managers Forum (IMMF), has attacked current copyright laws as being a "waste of time". The IMMF represent featured artist music managers around the world.
Jenner compared copyright laws to 1930's prohibition, as both laws were ineffective at preventing a popular act, and both "make the law offensive".
"We cannot control the rights of people to copy if they have computers. Copying is with us, let's see how we can be innovative and creative with our business models," Jenner also said during the Westminster eForum.
Jenner's suggested solution is a public licensing service, much like how people in the UK pay an annual licensing fee to support BBC.
