Reports have emerged that the new PS3 firmware version 3.41, which was supposed to only add a "You May Like" recommendation section to the PS store, is causing problem with people upgrading the hard drives in their PS3s.
The PS3 is designed to allow users to upgrade their hard-drives themselves, without having to buy official, often overpriced, accessories. Sony not only allows this but encourages users to upgrade their HDD.
However, after installing the latest firmware, users are being met with a 'no applicable data' error message when upgrading their hard drives.
It is believed that the latest firmware has introduced a new patching system, which will mean smaller firmware updates than before. Before, each firmware update contained all previous updates, but the new system will ensure each new firmware release only contains the changes from the previous firmware.
