LimeWire has officially been shut down. This comes after a ruling five months earlier in which US District Court Judge Kimba Wood ordered the music sharing service be closed. The RIAA had at that time also asked for LimeWire assets to be frozen, but the judge later denied that request.
Going to the LimeWire website, visitors are shown a "Legal Notice" simply stating:
The linked PDF file shows the court order which has forced the more than ten year old LimeWire service to be closed for the final time. Or is it? The operators of LimeWire are still promising a new, legal, service.
