Sony: 25 Million More Account Information Stolen

Just before the PSN intrusion occurred, Sony's other system was apparently hacked as well, according to a statement made by the company. Information was taken from Sony Online Entertainment a few days before the PSN hack, possibly using the same or similar exploit, and the data from 25 million more accounts were downloaded as a result. The 25 million accounts are on top of the 77 million PSN accounts that were accessed.

Sony Online Entertainment (SOE) publishes online multiplayer games for the PC, Facebook and PS3 platforms, games including the popular DC Universe Online.

Also possibly stolen was a database containing outdated (from 2007) direct debit data, containing about 23,400 financial records, including full credit card and debit card numbers, but not CVV codes.

Sony has now shut down SOE services, with subscribers reimbursed for any down time plus an additional 30 days of free play once the service resumes.
