I will be buying a DVD writer, probably this Christmas, and was wondering what others thought about buying DVD writers?
Please feel free to post the brand/model of the DVD writer you already have or would like to buy, with perhaps an explanation of why you bought or will plan to buy it. Also, I've just started another poll on which DVD writable format (DVD-R/RW or DVD+R/RW) do you use/prefer here : http://forum.digital-digest.com/show...threadid=13916 Thanks. i bought a panasonic lfd-311 dvd ram 9 mos ago burns at 1x takes about an hour, just started trying to burn dvd few days ago(don't know how well that is going to work out) but i do love the dvd ram part, quick and easy way to backup files and works as a hdd and the dvd ram media 9.4 gig double side is around 5 bucks, overall like it so far

HI, Admin
I have a Pioneer A04 which burns at 2x and it's one of the best burn I think. I never had any problems with it. I had it since May 2002. Still doing a good job.

i own hp 200i
i don`t like the bundled software but this drive is good, with 2.4x writing/rewriting speed. DVD-R media is cheaper but DVD+R drive has some advantages it can use DVD+RW media with same speed as DVD+R, furthermore the reading speed of DVD+RW is amazing it can be read max 16x with my toshiba dvd 1502 drive. (DVD-R can be read just 2x for toshiba DVD drives- it is very slow, but other brand might read faster than toshiba) even the compatiblity the pioneer claims the DVD-R/-RW is more compatible but the research done by themselves shows the contrary if you want to just copy movie or something then go for the DVD-R. but if you sometimes need data backup or using rewrite format then wait for 4x DVD+RW next year |
