Audio not sychronized with video AND contrast and brighteness is darkened.

The audio is faster than the video when using VirtualDub 1.4.10. Is there any way to rectify this?

I've tried adjusting the Audio->Interleaving settings, and under "Audio skew correction" i tried keying in a positive number but how do i know what number to key in? But it still does not work.

Can someone help me please?

And furthermore, after encoding the video in order to add permanent subtitles to the avi video file, the contrast and brightness somehow darkens a little. Is there any way to keep it at the same contrast and brightness as to the original avi video?

Trial and error.Put a number and preview in the OUTPUT window.
Is the video delay constant throughout the movie?

First of all, use the latest VirtualDub version - 1.4.x is a bit outdated.

Second, load in your original video file again, apply the filters as you need them, and disable "Audio/Video" interleaving - try encoding it again.

I've updated to using the VirtualDubMod 1.5.10.2 now.

But how do you disable the "Audio/Video" interleaving option as there is no "Audio" option on the menu?

And once I opened the targeted file, it says "VirtualDub has detected an improper VBR audio encoding in the source AVI file (audio stream 1). The current preferrence is to rewrite the audio header to the standard CBR values during processing for better compatibility. This may introduce up to 4145 ms of skew from the video stream. If this is unacceptable, decompress the *entire* audio stream to an uncompressed WAV file and recompress with a constant bitrate encoder. (bitrate: 167.5 ± 16.8 kbps)

Click No to the VBR header prompt.

From the "Streams" menu, select "Stream List". Right click on the audio track listed and make sure "Direct Stream Copy" is selected (so you won't need to re-encode the audio again), and then select the "Interleaving" also from the same right click menu. Uncheck the "Enable a/v interleaving" checkbox.

Strange, interleaving should have no effect on audio sync, but glad it worked out all the same. It should be noted that interleaving is recommended for avi files that will be played from CD/DVD since it allows sequential reading.

Exactly.My standalone player(an LG) clearly states that A and V MUST be interleaved for it to play any DivX/XviD avi.

I don't know why that works either, but I once had this file that refuses to sync until I did it. I suspect there was something wrong with the source file to begin with. Putting the non interleaved file back through VirtualDub/Mod, and enabling interleaving again might restore interleaving and keep sync.
