MKVExtractGUI - extracted file won't play

    Using MKVExtractGUI to extract .mkv.
Although the original .MKV plays fine, the resulting H.264 video file won't play in PotPlayer.
MediaInfo is telling me the new video file is AVC. Gspot tells me it's H.264/AVC and that codec's are installed.
When I try to load it into VirtualDub I get the message the is of 'an unknown or unsupported file type".
    Any idea's ? Thanks.

    Try MkvExtractGui-2 instead.

Assuming you have the latest version of MKVtoolnix, I wonder if the problem is with the playback of the file, rather than the file itself. Have you tried playing the file in VLC just to rule out an issue with PotPlayer?

Also it's generally a good idea to post a screen shot of MediaInfo with the file loaded. Often it saves time as someone on the board spots a problem by looking at the specs.

A new stable AviDemux was just released. 2.60. You might try using that to make your clips. It's pretty intuitive. If it asks you if you want to use "safe mode" click yes or ok. It used to be pretty touchy with .mkv files, but it seems to be improving.

Have you tried using MkvMergeGui to cut the clips? Seems to me it has a function to cut the mkv into sections.
