A big thanx for providing W7-ready firmware update TL02 for my 5-days old (new) SATA DVDRAM LG GH22LS50, whose existence Hitachi-LG till today denies. It's beyond my imagination! How did you do this? Nevertheless, not even your great firmware update for my unconfirmed hardware did the job and that's why this is the real message:
No matter what M$ says, crossing Intel's SouthBridge ICH10, .9, .8, . on a SATA DVDRAM requires IaStor.sys to be installed!
Even my abused W7 of 2009-10-21 returned to orderly conditions in Device Manager under IDE ATA/ATAPI-Controller after having installed
1. Intel's INF-Update Tool
2. Intel's Matrix Storage Manager
Consequently, be prepared with a F6-Driver Floppy for the day...
From usually well-informed circles is reported that the unique assignment of SATA ports has got top priority in W8 development.
Thanks again for the impossible, C.J.
