The Pioneer BDP-HD1 has a SRP of $1,800. I know I can't afford that.
Hope all of you have some overtime you can pick up at work.
I would not even consider paying that kind of cash $1.800 in the u.s. and it is gonna cost about £800-£1000 in the uk apperantly those sort of prices are just a complete rip off you would be better off buying a playstation 3 or xbox 360 the add on drive for the 360 is gonna be around the £200 uk and $400 u.s. i just bought the xbox 360 for £350 with three games all cables and hard drive so if i buy the add on hd drive it will cost a total of around £550 and at least it has other uses besides just a dvd player not sure but i think the playstation 3 will be ready straight away
@blu
I think blue ray and hd only diff is that one disc holds more than the other and as i have not heard of a blue ray television i think both disc as you say be component connections to a high def television not sure though
I just want to watch one movie on blu ray to see what it is like. When i put a movie on my netflix queue it asked me if i wanted the blu ray format and it made me feel outdated all of a sudden. But to be honest it will be cool but imo it's nothing like the switch from vhs to dvd it won't be as widely accepted because of the massive dvd collections people have accumulated and prices will stay high for awhile. i still want one though.
I can imagine the picture looking great on a decent TV, but I have no plans to replace any of my existing DVD movies with HD version. It will be more like upgrading a DVD player, rather than buying something completely different, and I can see my DVD purchases being replaced with HD DVD and/or Blu-ray ones over time.
