    little Arrows in ffdshow

I have an AVI. file that I have all the proper codecs for. I even ran it through Gspot and it said I've got all the right stuff to play. It plays, granted, however it's really dark and it's got all these little arrows swarming all over the screen. What are these arrows and how do I get rid of them?

that pretty much sounds like you are using FFDSHOW as the playbackfilter for your movies

in ffdshow there is an option visualization, which seems to be turned ON

rightclick in your movie player and go to FILTERS => FFDSHOW => VISUALIZATION and remove the visualization

    this should solve your problem

      that kind of worked

I couldn't find the link you were reffering to, so I just uninstalled FFDshow and that worked beautifully. As far as I can tell I don't need it at the moment anyway, and if I do I'll just reinstall it. Apparrantly it was causing me other problems as well I just didn't know it was the source. Thanks.

the effect you were talking about is a special setting within ffdshows options which you must have switched on by coincidence

one normally enters ffdshow's options again and removes the setting

how to access ffdshow's options depends on your movie player

i recommend NOT to use windows media player 7/8/9 or 10

use either the old version 6.4 by simply calling => start => run => mplayer2

or better download *media player classic* which sounds similar to windows media player and even more looks like the old wmp6.4 but is something completely different and way better

in mpc (media player classic) you can rightlick in your player (while playing a file) and you'll see => filters => visualization

one can simply untick this options and get rid of the arrows (motion vectors) you were talking about

          Ooh..

Motion Vectors!! Of course when you call them that it all makes sense. I didn't think of it until now but the little arrows WERE all going in the direction of what was moving on the screen. Windows Media Classic you say I'll give it a shot.
