Hi everyone. I,m very new to all this but here goes. I've downloaded a couple of films, (movies) One was in AVI and one was in MPEG2. Now I don't pretend to know what these initials stand for but, I'm trying to put them on to DVD using DVD shrink, but bugger me I'm just getting an error message. Is there anyone out there who knows how to rectify this matter?. Your Help would be greatly appreciated. I,ve tried using other programs like windows movie maker, movie edit pro, though all to no avail. Thanks again for listening.

dvdshrink isn't for those types of files, it is for backing-up commercial dvd's.
for an avi or mpg, you need to encode and author them to burn on a dvd.

DVD Shrink is a software solution for shrinking original DVDs onto recordable media. It will not convert them, nor will it burn them to disc. You need to do some homework on the process before you can understand what you need to do. I recommend you Google a search string along the lines of "converting .avi, mpeg2 movie files" or sumsuch. There is freeware that will do this, but there will be a learning curve to master. Visit other forums that are concerned with conversion and get educated on how to do what you want to do.

I think you should at first convert your video AVI to DVD format. Then you can rip your video put them in DVD.

Steps to Convert AVI to DVD Using Nero Kwik Burn

Step 1 – Visit the Nero Kwik Media home page and download and install the application on your computer.

Step 2 – Once the Nero Kwik Media program is installed on your computer, open the company’s app store and select the Nero Kwik Burn app. This will activate the program and make it ready for use.

Step 3 – Choose the “Data Burning” icon located in the primary user interface and select the AVI file to convert to DVD.

Step 4 – Insert a DVD into the DVD-R drive and the application will then burn the AVI to DVD.

Step 5 – To convert the AVI file to DVD format to store on your computer’s disk, Nero will force the end-user to upgrade to the commercial version of the software application. Once upgraded, the target drive and DVD format may then be selected to save the converted AVI file on the desired drive on the computer.
