Looking for a certain type of program

Hello everyone. There are lots of instructional DVDs out there that allow you to hear the teachers voice and watch his computer screen and mouse movements as he either navigates through windows or particular programs.

Does anyone know generically what these programs that allow motion screen captures and audio voice overs called? Or even better, can anyone recommend a specific program to try to accomplish this.

not sure if its the absolute exact term for teaching software, but viewing/controlling a PC through a network/internet is called 'remote access'

i do use it, but just over a 3-PC lan, and not for teaching. my program's called 'access remote pc' but i don't think it plays any voiceovers...

Hi, no thats not what I mean. I have a DVD that is a tutorial on how to use a video editing program, I didn't think they were merely shooting the computer screen with a camcorder to get footage, I thought there was some program that captured all this instruction. Maybe I'm wrong, maybe they got this stuff compiled simply by shooting it with a camcorder. Even programs like the Video Professor you see on TV, when they instruct, they show a computer screen and the mouse movement with menus selections and new windows opening. I thought that was a dedicated program.

Oh well....

you mean a video capture card? In that case I reccomend the Dazzle DVC90 card.

Their are some programs such as Snagit that will allow you to capture to an avi file. You could then take a video editing program such as Ulead video studio and add the audio and anything else you want. Not sure if this is what you meen.

another way to capture video from the screen is HyperCam - the free one leaves a little watermark, but if is a full screen capture the watermark will be right where the blue bar on the top is. Then you can use Ulead to edit.

Finally! Someone who agrees that Ulead Video Studio rocks!

UVS is my favorite. Womble's mpeg video wizard is a good program also
