    or rather here http://www.google.com.au/search?hl=e...e+Search&meta=

not particularly good for video editing (more trouble than they're worth for newbies), hard disks will not be the bottleneck lest you have a monstrous PC. even IDE drives should be fine

edit: gave much better first link

A raptor for system drive and a 300 gig for data is more than adequate
on a high end dual core system(serial) and extra storage on pata drives
if you are not into lots of dvd burners.
I do like the option of two chipset controllers tho, 4 serials, and up to 8
      pata drives. Deluxe options.

        Redundant Array of Independent Disks

In brief, RAID is a technology to protect your data stored on the HDD. There is RAID 1, RAID 5, RAID 10 as most commonly used. Its an array of HDD's used in various numbers (associated by its name i.e. RAID 1) and arrangement to provide redundancy to the storage and can be setup using Hardware or Software RAID, mostly used in Servers than desktops.

Since its an array of HDD's, there is an overhead, either in terms of performance or space wasted during the building of a RAID system.
