Burner reading problem - louhaven's thread

I hope this is the right place to pop this question.. If not, then please move it to where its supposed to go, and let me know.

I dl'ed the 'kit' for dvd decrypting/pgc as per instructions. I'm really new to this sort of thing, so send flames to /dev/null.

Everything installed okay, using the file at "http://www.digital-digest.com/~blutach/PgcEdit_install.exe"

The dvd is "Man of the house" ntsc region 1. the wizard runs fine, till it gets time to open the dvd decryptor log file (usually okay). My problem is, it crashes the wizard, and pgc crashes with an error (I have logs of these if required) Refering to V2_Short_Guide.pdf, about 1/2 way thru the file, it says: "2. Select your DVD reader/burner and then the VIDEO_TS folder." which I do, and then it comes up and says it cant read video_ts\vob_01 (the first file, I think) and then it crashes. If, as Ive read in another guide (also available on this site) Im to point pgcedit to the saved portion of the dvd (saved with dvd decryptor) it says that vob_01 doesnt exist, and then crashes. Help!

I'm sure it works! but if its going to crash, it'll crash for me everytime. The os is win xp sp1, everything else is out of memory, so its just the wizard/and associated software, programs installed on c: saved files to H: (the only drive with enough space for this project) the 'donk' (aka cpu) is a 1gig p3.

Any ideas?

Do both of these first and then try to rip it again.

I did this movie with just DVD Decrypter 3.5.4.0 and DVD Shrink 3.2 back when it came out .

I checked my settings:
Primary DMA if avail set to ultra dma mode 4
Secondary DMA if avail set to Ultra dma mode 2

I re-ran the 'wizard' goes thru dvd decryptor okay, pops up the same error in pcgedit 0.6.2 tho..

"Error 1 opening file for read
couldnt open h:\man_of_the_house\vts_01_0.ifo
no such file or directory"

I click on okay, another little box pops up and says to use ifoedit? to correct this problem, then the application error window, and that's where the 2nd part of the crash log file displays.

What am I doing wrong?

I just got "Uncle Buck" regio 1 ntsc off the shelf, and it does the same thing?!!?
you want me to try a region 4 dvd?

Yes, try another - this log is not symptomatic of just ARccOS.

EDIT: Just saw your second post - I'm afraid your DVD drive is on the way out. First, try to get a cleaning kit, but be ready to fork over for a nice new drive.

I have a pioneer dvr110d withthe cracked firmware 1.37 in it - u want me to try these dvd's in it?

Okay,
I chucked in the pioneer dvr-110d and made a copy of the dvd. Wow, its actually quite fast! But yes, It would seem like the olde lite-on is destined for a non-critical machine. Its funny how it will write dvd's okay, but be able to read them...

Just in case I forgot...




Also, I noticed the sound on the dvd is rather low - having to have the telly 'flat-out' just to hear the silent-ish bits. I know this is another fault/problem, and am happy to pop it in another message if need be.

nature of ac3 5.1
that's why I hook the stereo vcr as a modulator then run audio branched to
a receiver to supplement poor old mono tv.
I really need something newer and bigger!
