      well the newcastle 754 core with 1800mhz would be an 2800+
      the 2400 core would be an 3300+

      of course the performance would be slightly different

      let's not keep up the guess-work here but try to check the facts

      ++++++++++++

      everest glitch, the 3300!
      why is that, chewy?

      the 256kb cache seems proof enough that we deal with the 3300+ here as there was only one newcastle core that had 256 and that's exactly the 3300+

          like i said: let's not jump to conclusions

          maybe there's a simple explaination for all the weird info we're dealing with atm

              Sempron 3100+ 1.80 GHz 800 MHz 256 KB 754

              everythings fine derree! might be a bios issue like I thought at first,
              but there are always bios issues.

                so having the cool n quite running..is this good or bad? Would this be somthing that I could "easily" turn off? Or, since really the computer at home is just for 'entertainment' in that I don't use it for work at all should I bother? When I check to see if I need to defrag I am told that I have 86% of memory left and that includes the partitioned drive...so as you can see I definetly am not working at full load

                  ahh, that makes a difference, chewy

                  of course i thought we'd deal with an athlon64 not a sempron

                  ++++

                  concerning c&q:
                  if you dont want to overclock i can strongly suggest using c&q as it will reduce power consumption and make the cpu run cooler

                  most of the time our cpu is not working with full load and thus it is not a bad idea reducing its core freq

                  the reduction happens in a fraction of a second and of course it will increase the core to the original freq whenever need be

                  i consider this option very useful and have it active most of the time as i only overclock my system for conversions, which i run at night or when away from that encoding machine

                        lots of possibilities, looking at nero info tool, you do have a serial hard drive?

                          so I should definetly update my firmware is what you are saying? I have be meaning to do that...seen the threads about it...but never get around to doing it...I should try to do that this weekend....is it a difficult thing to do? I probably won't 'upgrade' the system..with kids its hard to have the cash for things like that..if it wasn't for working for the company I bought it from I would still be using the p2 400 I had...

                            When your OS gets a litle older, a clean install and power user setup will
                            be a big upgrade. Still a second hard drive comes in very handy for video
                            work.

                              maybe a dumb couple of questions with a clean install, I would use my back up disks that I made when I first got my system right? would that mean I would lose everything stored on the computer? and what all are you meaning when you say 'video work'? btw Chewy You are the greatest!

                                If you have 2 hard drives on seperate cables(eg, 2 serial hard drives) and you have decrypted files to one, then shrinking to another goes a lot faster
                                at no compression, likewise say you were reauthoring a flipper disk that had part 1 and 2 in seperate sides, then shrink could combine take compressed
                                rips from one hard drive and combine the titles on a second.
                                Having everything standalone masters is how I can burn 2 disks at once
                                with 2 different programs. Or copy on the fly!
