First question,i tried to put 2 burners on the same channel, but windows wouldnt see either. My mobo only has one ide connecter,it has 4 sata ports, which i use one for boot.I have 2 ide-raid channels, but they are taken with 4 drives. Is there a way to have 2 burners on the same channel? The jumper settings were correct, and they were the same drive, liteon 1693s.I do have a pci-ide card i could use, promise ata100.Will it accept a dvd burner? The second question,is ther a way,or should i even try to update firmware in my standalone dvd-recorder.I am starting to have issues with media. It is a Sony RDR-GX300

First question,i tried to put 2 burners on the same channel, but windows wouldnt see either. My mobo only has one ide connecter,
let you boot at all. Leave one in as master. Try flashing it only to the latest firmware. Test with other hooked back in. You need to get different firmwares on the drives.
The promise cards claim to support atapi, but do poorly with them.
There are certain pci ide cards that are regularly used for dvd burners,
it's a custom geek non raid bios flash that changes them, don't ask, yet.Last edited by Chewy; 16 Jan 2006, 09:53 PM.Comment
