Well this is an open project, we'll assume you need a dvd burner and 512 megs of ram, now if you're serious you will have 2 hard drives, the extra one
will hold all that data for your video work.
We will also assume you have added a dvd burner or have another optical
drive that came with the dvd burner. Now those of you who have serial hard drive(s) can skip this part, you've got it made. For the rest of you, your hard drive should be conected to the primary ide on the motherboard, an extra
drive will be jumpered slave and connected to the middle connector on the cable. Google your hard drives and know those jumper settings!
Now if you're adding a dvd burner, we need to change some stuff,
with this setup I would suggest you pull your old optical drive and replace with
the dvd burner as master on the secondary mother board ide. If you keep the
other drive make sure the burner goes on top and is jumpered master and the
old drive is jumpered slave.

This tool will check to see if you did it right
Now if you have a larger newer computer(1-2 years old) and you want to
go all the way, get a pci controller card and put your hard drives on it
on seperate cables, video works goes best when you use 2 hard drives
on seperate cables. Then your optical drives can have their own cables,
or you can even add 2 more.
Make sure you have a computer guru show you how to load the driver for the card and change bios boot settings before you do this upgrade!
