New dvd burner and realplayer files...

hey guys how are you. I just bought an external dvd player and everything is connected and the only problem is that I have the nero program but it dosen't let me burn dvdrs for my actual dvd burner it only lets me burn window media player files to a cd which I don't want. I have a whole bunch of real videos and I want to burn them but it dosen't let me it says that something does not match or whatever. Can anyone please tell me exactly what I need to do or if there are any programs that might help me actually make the dvds as well cause this nero crap doed not seem to work. Thanks.

Nero cannot open RM files, nor can most other video software. You will need to convert these files to an AVI first, then Nero can open them. The conversion is a pain, but there are two free ways to do it, AVISynth and Mencoder, search the forums for those solutions.
